Oscars Red Carpet: The Good, The Bad, The “Blue” & The “Bruha”

Waking up at 6am for the love of fashion and film is something I look forward to. I was glued on the boob tube to watch the 85th Oscars Award. I mean, this is the Superbowl of fashion!!!

The good:

Ang dami kong “the good” choices this year. Maybe I’m in a good mood. Ewan.

Anne Hathaway’s pale pink gown is not necessarily the typical Oscars gown which why I love it! It also reminded me of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscars gown when she won Best Actress for ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and Gwynie wore the short version of Prad’s apron dress to the MET Ball.

The piece de resistance is the Tiffany necklace she wore, after all, she’s a New Yorker. If I had to “nip”pick… It would have to be the nipple piercing action she had on her dress. LOL

Dress by Giorgio Armani, jewelry by Harry Winston.

Jessica Chastain’s Armani couture in copper-colored silk with pink beads gown and Veronica Lake-ish hair & makeup is glamour to the hilt!

Dress by Dior Haute Couture

Jennifer Lawrence looks fresh and fab in this severe mermaid gown!

Dress by Dior, jewelry by Harry Winston.

Charlize Theron’s white number is clean and trendy. I lover her pixie blonde hair on the sea of cascading curls.

Dress by Alexis Mabille

Zoe Saldana modern gown seems to have too many details going on but she was able to rock it!

Dress by Valentino

Love this simple black gown with how-low-can-you-go neckline on Samantha Barks! Too much cleavage usually looks trashy but she rocked it.

Dress by Miu Miu, bag by Prada, earrings by Chopard, ring by Fred Leighton, and shoes by Christian Louboutin.

There’s no Scandal for Kerry Washington aka Olive Pope on the Red Carpert. Her MiuMiu coral-colored gown was an outstanding choice. The crystallized bodice was amazing!

Dress by Oscar de la Renta, jewelry by Moa.

Amy Adam’s silver gray shredded tulle Oscar Dela Renta gown was a dream! I think she’s an underrated Red Carpet veteran (she’s been on the Red Carpet four times in seven years!) She brought romance to the Oscars. Her gown also remindeds me of Sarah Jessica Parker’s mille feuille gown from the last episode of Sex and the City. The feathers on Adams’ gown just made the confection super dreamy.

Maria Menounos is a doll!

Dress by Valentino.

Sally Field looks stunning in red and ruffles!

Glitz and glamour is Lara Spencer.

Dress by Alexander McQueen.

Amanda Seyfried is as fresh in flora and fauna! I love her finger-combed hairstyle!

Red gown by Valentino

Jennifer Aniston looks in love. The red princess-y gown says it all.

Dress by Tadashi Shoji, clutch by Edie Parker.

Who says curvy women can’t do pastel? Octavia Spencer proves them wrong.

Dress by Marchesa.

Olivia Mum’s gown is divinely decadent! I just wished they made the hem shorter. Medyo nilamon lang sya ng gown.

Dress by Versace.

Jane Fonda’s canary yellow gown is very 80’s, very her! Peg!

Dress by Donna Karan Atelier.

Kelly Rowland looks like a diva in this black and white gown.

Dress by Tony Ward.

I love Kristin Chenoweth! Her big bun gave her height and the dress looks great on her.

Great play of lines on Nora Jones!

Dress by Elie Saab.

Lovely intricate beaded lace gown on Sandra Bullock.

Dress by Badgley Mischka.

You gotta have balls to wear white. We all know Queen Latifah’s got them!

Gown by Versace

When it comes to Red Carpet events, Halle Berry makes bold choices and I love her for that. This Bond-ish deco gown is not for everyone but everything looks good on her.

Dress by L’Wren Scott, jewelry by Fred Leighton.

No caption required for Nicole Kidman.

Dress by Armani Prive, jewelry by Neil Lane.

Naomi Watts is the epitome of modern glamour.

Dress by Gucci.

Jennifer Garner’s plum choice was absolutely gorgeous.

Dress by Naeem Khan.

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler look great. Although, I think Stacy Keibler out-shined Clooney this time. The intricate glittery gown with a black, cinched, belted waist looked amazing on her!

Dress by Jenny Packham.

Grammy winner and now Oscar winner Adele rocked the Red Carpet in a beaded black gown. She gets Best Eye Makeup in my books! The longest (and thickest) lashey ever!

Dress by Lanvin.

Emmanuelle Riva is what we should all inspire to dress up like when we get to her age. Clazz.

The “blue”:

Eto na yung mga nag-usap!

Dress and jewelry by Louis Vuitton.

Reese Witherspoon, I mean…

Indigo blue + Classic hairdo = Blue Bombshell

According to reports, her daughter helped her choose the Louis Vuitton gown. So sweet!

Cancer survivor and Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts looked amazing on the Red Carpet in indigo blue velvet and sapphire jewelry!

Nancy O’Dell is fun and flirty in blue.

Dress by Roberto Cavalli, shoes by Jimmy Choo.

Oh Jennifer Hudson, your weight-loss and voice are inspiring! Care na na iba-iba and shade ng blue mo!

Dress by H&M, jewelry by Martin Katz.

If Helen Hunt’s dress did not wrinkle, it could have been an iconic moment for her — wearing H&M but sadly, walang may bet ng gusot-gusutan. Sharon Stone’s GAP shirt and evening satin skirt still holds its Red Carpet record.

Dress by Giorgio Armani.

Quvenzhane Wallis is nine and fine. Wag na tayong mag-comment.

The bad:

Style is subjective… And “the bad” is the subject! LOL

Tell me who’s not distracted by her boobs? May napisa factor. #awkward

Dress by Zuhair Murad.

Some like it gold and intricate. I’m sure some people like this gown on Catherine Zeta-Jones but I find the swirls was way too distracting.

That’s it! L’Oreal must step in and color Kelly Osbourne’s tresses! Lakas maka-sira ng gown!

Dress by David Meister.

I’m so sad for Melissa McCarthy. Maybe it’s the color of her gown. Semento levelz. Maybe if she wore Tom Ford Lipstick in “Wild Ginger”, it would have been a different story.

The “bruha”:

You be the judge:

Dress by Vivienne Westwood

My gaaaaaaad! Someone get Helen Bonham Carter a comb! Bruhahaha!

Dress by Reem Acra.

Bad hair day on the Red Carpet for Kristen Stewart.

The Oscars was a tad boring. Thank God for some Red Carpet fashion. Till next year!

Shoppingera, who are your favorites on the Red Carpet?

Not part of the Oscars red Carpet but just as entertaining:

Watch and subscribe to my daughter’s project/show on YouTube. She has new episodes everyday! Let’s support our kids and passionate artists.

Thanks everyone!

  1. Though she wasn’t at the actual Oscar show, I LOVE Nina Dobrev’s gown at Elton John’s Oscar Party. Her stylist Ilaria Urbinati is so spot on for all her looks this awards season.

    And Aryanna is uber-talented! 🙂

  2. For me, Naomi Watts absolutely killed it with her dress. Perfection. Not getting what wasn’t to love about it. I loved Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidmans dresses but in my opinion it was definitely Naomi. I also loved how Kristin Stewart was a hot mess, and Jennifer Lawrence looked terrific even falling over.
