Dylan’s Favorites: Chocolate Milk and Football

jenniFood 7 Comments

Dylan and Aryanna love sports whether it’s competing or just for fun. It’s been proven that playing sports has lots of benefits for kids. In fact, many studies focus on the effects of sports on the five “C’s”—competence, confidence, connections, character, and caring—which are considered critical components of positive youth development. It also provides lifelong skills such as discipline, teamwork and developing of interpersonal and interactive skills.

Our children are both into football. Dylan, in particular, has been training for almost a year now. He’s gotten pretty good but most of all, he has fun playing with other kids. Even after the game is over, he and most of his teammates stay in the park to hang out and eat snacks.

When it’s time to choose a liquid chug after a game, I give him chocolate milk. Yup, our kids’ favorite drink has been proven to be a healthier choice:

According to studies, milk, when compared to water, or most sports drinks, it has double the carbohydrate and protein content, perfect for replenishing tired muscles. Its high water content replaces fluids lost as sweat, preventing dehydration. Plus it packs a nutritional bonus of calcium, and includes just a little sodium and sugar — additives that help recovering athletes retain water and regain energy. – Source

Alaska Powdered Chocolate and Milk Drinks hold better on hot and long days of playing sports.

The greatest benefit of playing sports is keeping in shape. In this digital age, more and more kids are living a sedentary life—playing on their gadgets more than getting active outside. Encouraging our children to go out and play is not only beneficial to their health but will also help sharpen their life skills. Plus, a tall drink of chocolate milk is a yummy reward.
