Dry Oil Is Life

Oil was once vilified as being greasy and pore-clogging but new technologies have transformed this former hippie favorite into one of the beauty industry’s best-loved ingredients, embraced both by premium and mass beauty brands.

For starters, oils are no longer sticky. The most popular dry oil is the Moroccan oil (read my blog about it here). Today, oil has successfully infiltrated almost every product category such as luxury tanning oils, makeup removers, hair moisturizers, body shimmer and facial oils.

Dry oil has slowly taken over my beauty regimen especially at night. I find myself lathering it on my face and neck and I enjoy massaging my face and body with it. It’s quick and easy to apply and keeps my skin hydrated without the greasy feeling.

Here are some of the wonder oils I’ve been using:

The Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil (limited edition)

This is particular brand is what I use the most. I have dry skin and it revitalizes and restores radiance to my moisture-depleted face. I super recommend this for those who have dehydrated skin. The smell is a little bit intense but it works miraculously! I’m panicking as I’m almost out of it! Available in Rustan’s

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

This is also another product I swear by. It feels light on the face and smells pretty good. I just use 2-3 drops of it and it spreads easily. A little goes a long way. Available in Keihl’s stores located at Greenbelt 3, SM Makati & Rockwell

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

If there’s one dry oil brand that’s worth every penny is this product. It’s multi-purpose so you can use it for the face, body and hair. I’ve been using Nuxe dry oil for 10 years. I just finished the last bottle I purchased and I’m ready to pop open this new one! I especially love using it as a body shimmer. It also nourishes, repairs, softens skin and reduces stretch marks. Available in Beauty Bar, Rustan’s Makati, and Rustan’s Shangri-La

A specialist moisturizing oil that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging and dehydrated skin. Bio-Oil has won 126 skincare awards and it is America’s number 1 selling multiuse skincare oil. It’s good for those with normal, sensitive and oily skin as it’s non-acnegenic and hypo-allergenic. It’s the most affordable of the lot (SRP P495). Available in Mercury Drug, Watsons, Rose Pharmacy & South Star

L’Occitane 28-Day Divine Renewal Program

This set is based on the immortelle flower from the island of Corsica, which is know for its extraordinary longevity. The line distilled its active ingredients into an essential oil that forms the foundation of this skincare set. I recommend this to those who travel a lot and those who like sticking to beauty programs. Each of the oil vials is marked with the appropriate week (you’ll see printed numbers in the pack) so even though you are traveling you could keep track of the progress. Available in Beauty Bar, Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangri-La, Rustan’s Rockwell, Rustan’s Alabang Town Center & Rustan’s Trinoma

L’Occitane Immortelle Oil Make-Up Remover

This is not exactly a dry oil moisturizer but it’s an amazing makeup remover. This silky new cleansing oil removes even the most stubborn makeup including waterproof mascara, as well as impurities that have built up during the day without stripping or drying the skin. Directions: Use the oil on dry skin. With eyes closed, massage over the face and eye area. Work into a lather with a little water, then rinse well. Clean and moisturized face every time. Available in Beauty Bar, Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangri-La, Rustan’s Rockwell, Rustan’s Alabang Town Center & Rustan’s Trinoma

I tell you, dry oil is life!
