2 Beauty Hacks You Need To Learn Now: Strobing & Contouring

jenniBeauty 2 Comments

One of the things I admire about Millennials is their ability in creating the “no-make” makeup look that’s easy and using the latest and the best products.

Like what I mentioned in my previous posts, I learned a lot about beauty trends from my daughter Aryanna. She’s taught me quick & easy makeup hacks that work!

It is no surprise that when she was asked to work on Happy Skin’s collaboration with Plains & Prints that she literally jumped up and down with excitement! She also had fun working with her high school batchmate Sabina (daughter of realtor dad Mon Gonzalez and supermodel mom Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez).

Watch the video tutorials below to find how Millennials work their magic using strobing (it’s the latest beauty trend) and contouring techniques that are quick, easy and super doable:

What is strobing?

In basic terms, to ‘strobe’ your skin is to accentuate the areas of the face where light would naturally hit, such as the top of your cheek bones, the brow bones and cupid’s bow. Rather than using a powder highlighter, strobing is achieved through the use of liquid and cream powders in order to create a mirrored glowing effect on the top of the cheekbones.

What is contouring?

Contouring in a nutshell is the slimming of the face using techniques achieved through makeup application.

Gone are the 90’s gaunt contour or the “power cheeks” look. These days, it’s all about natural looking makeup. It’s about shadowing the shape of your features in the most flattering of ways. The aim is simply to accentuate your natural features by enhancing and defining your profile.

  1. I’m a big supporter of local brands! All of my makeup/skincare products are either homegrown or Korean. As such, I’ve been looking for a contouring/bronzing product for months since I couldn’t find a locally made one that’s of great quality. I am looking forward for Happy Skin’s contouring stick when it hits stores 🙂
