Hang on to your vanity seats, your beauty routine is getting a shake-up — literally.
Bi-phase is the new beauty buzzword and it’s freakin’ amazing!
A bi-phase product allows the formulator to combine two very separate formula compositions into one, offering a unique texture, experience, and feel. It also offers the convenience of multiple benefits in one product.
Think of the the good ol’ vinaigrette dressing, you know how oil and vinegar don’t actually mix, but when you shake them together, they taste magic? Apply that logic to your beauty routine.
There are two luxury skin care brands leading the bi-phase race:
Algenist’s Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Bi-Phase Peel
What is it: For the first time Algenist combines the “un-combinable”:
Water Phase – Alguronic Acid to boost powerful anti-ageing peeling ingredients: Glycolic Acid, Shikmic Acid to resurface, exfoliate and rejuvenate.
Oil Phase – High concentration of Microalgae Oil to cushion powerful peeling and restorative ingredients: Salicylic Acid, Algae Extracts to resurface, replenish and nourish.
How it works: When shaken together, the ingredients mix to create a formula that exfoliates and nourishes the skin. The power of two to reveal a luminous, clear, silky-smooth skin in one simple step. Boom.
How to use:
-Shake bottle well prior to use.
-Dispense onto pad.
-Apply a thin, even layer to clean skin.
-Leave on for three to five minutes, then rinse thoroughly using lukewarm water or a wet facecloth.
-Apply two to three times a week.
Why I love it: I’ve been using the Algenist Ultimate Anti-Aging Bi-Phase Peel for two weeks already and for someone with dry skin, it’s hard to use a peeling product that doesn’t leave my face irritated (those with normal and oily skin will surely benefit from this too). The combination of Microalgae Oil with the Glycolic and salicylic acids is literally genius—it exfoliates your skin while leaving it moisturized. It’s one of those miracle skin care products that I immediately saw and felt the results! In fact, I’m feeling guilty that I haven’t been using my other skin care products. They get jealous you know. Seriously, this is one skin care product that literally changed my life!
Tip: This is one-time that I will recommend to you to buy the big 50 ml. bottle (it also comes in a 7ml. travel size) because you will be using this product consistently. I promise you, it’s going to be worth the price tag. It also comes with free Premium cotton pads in the box. I used the Genius Peel everyday for three consecutive days and then every other day the following week. Follow it up with Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Cream—it smells like sugar and works amazing.
Creme de La Mer The Renewal Oil
Just when I thought I didn’t need another facial oil.
What is it: ‘A highly renewing new elixir. This dual-phase elixir blends bubbles with Miracle Broth™ and sea-sourced actives, unleashing a wave of activity to infuse skin with a look of youth.’
Its applications seem to have no end—transforming cuticles and split ends, as well as skin, or acting as a boost to your everyday regimen.
How it works: The Renewal Oil is activated with the shake of the bottle, turning the golden clear liquid into an opaque, bubbling mixture of sea-sourced ingredients and the company’s signature Miracle Broth™, along with essential oils of eucalyptus and sesame, and lime tea concentrate. Sounds like there’s a lot going on but it smells light.
How to use: Gently shake to activate. Sweep 3-5 drops over your face and neck morning and evening. Massage into hair, cuticles and dry areas of the body as needed.
Why I love it: This oil is loaded with sea-sourced actives and anything sea-related ingredients work amazing on my skin! It leaves my face moisturized and radiant-looking. I now understand why it comes with a hefty price tag. The best part is that of all the facial oils I own, this feels the lightest on my skin. Literally, no oily feeling. Perfect for the scorching hot weather we’re experiencing in Manila.
Tip: I’ve been using the La Mer The Renewal Oil for a week now (substituting it with the Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Cream). While the package suggests to use only 3-5 drops, I tend to use 6-9 drops because of how light the oil is. Since the La Mer The Renewal Oil is super light, you will probably need to use more. My suggestion is to apply the oil at night, a few hours before sleeping to give time for the oil seeps through the skin and not on your pillow.
In a nutshell, both oils need to be shaken, not stirred (sorry but that line has been begging to be used!) to activate their beauty powers.
