Weekend Getaway At Domicillo Tagaytay

I grew up spending family weekends in Tagaytay. My dad used to be one of the Directors in Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) and we would stay in one of the facility’s guest cottages. My sister and I always loved the cold climate, having picnics at the park and horseback riding.

When I first met Tom, he was heavily into windsurfing and he would take me to Taal Yatch Club to hangout for the whole day. He would windsurf and I would just relax and read a book. We would also pack food and have picnic.

Tagaytay has always been a go-to destination for me. It’s the perfect place to escape as it’s far enough away from Makati City to feel like a real vacation, but close enough to drive to and enjoy for the weekend. The cool weather also lends itself to various activities (or the lack of) and gastronomic adventures.

My husband and I were invited for a getaway last week to one of the newest boutique hotels in Tagaytay:

Domicillo Tagaytay

Domicillo Hotel is an exclusive, Filipino contemporary designed hotel located along Aguinaldo Highway of Tagaytay City, overlooking the spectacular view of the Taal volcano and the lake.

The boutique hotel has eight stylish rooms designed by celebrated Filipino designers, Budji Layug, Milo Naval and Tes Pasola, five of which has a direct view of the lake and Taal volcano from the bedroom windows and verandas and a lounge that can double as a function room.

I love the chic architecture of Domicillo Tagaytay. The concrete exterior and modern silhouette are starkly juxtaposed with nature as backdrop.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by our host, designer and exporter Rene Alcala of Manila Mirrors.

The lobby

You will also find Domicillo home store and gallery in the main floor where social events can be held such as art exhibits, poetry reading and the like.

There are two restaurants operated by top-notch Chef Butch Zaldariaga of La Finca (opened March 1) and Chef Seiji of Aozora Japanese restaurant (soon to open).

Guests can feast on scrumptious contemporary and Japanese cuisine alfresco or indoor while enjoying the refreshing breeze of the nearby forest cliff and the magnificent view of the volcano and the lake.

There is also a view deck that can be converted into an events place that can accommodate 80 people on sit down functions.

Upper Lake View Floor

A promenade garden is located on the ground level that provides guests with a private and serene space of their own.

The complimentary breakfast (a choice of Filipino or Continental) is served in the guest lounge with the picturesque view to boot!

There are two Lower Lake View Rooms located on the floor just below the lobby. It has a spectacular view of the lake and Taal Volcano.

The Lower Lake View suites were designed by Milo Naval. I particularly like the chair on the balcony.

I love the poster bed and concrete walls!

On the same floor are three Deluxe Garden View Rooms. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling glass windows with a view of the garden.

The Deluxe Garden View Rooms were designed by Tes Pasola. The rooms are spacious, clean and fab!

Loving the mirror and Mother of Pearl armoire!

Lower Lake View Floor

There are three Lower Lake View Rooms or Premiere Rooms that are located at the lowest floor. You are welcomed by a spacious lounge and smoking area and a garden.

The Lower Lake View Rooms are the pièce de résistance of Domicillo Tagaytay. All three rooms have a scenic view of the lake. It’s has the best view of the Taal volcano.

All rooms are fully furnished with top-quality materials and are equipped with bedroom furniture and appliances designed by world class Filipino furniture and home accessories designers. All the rooms have a flat screen TV with home cable entertainment system. The rooms also has a mini refrigerator filled with water, juices, sodas and a complimentary coffee and tea for guest to enjoy.

Home and furniture designer Budji Layug designed the Premier Rooms

I like the calm and serene vibe of the space and the beautiful daylight that pours into the room.

Domicillo offers  a complementary bottle of wine for those who book this room. According to Rene, soon they will provide free massage too.

THIS!!!

The view of the garden from our room.

The view from our Lower Lake View Room is everything!

Todo avail lang kami ni Tom!

Man and nature. Alone time with my husband and with this killer view can spark creativity.

My kind of weekend: coffee with the cover girls (haha) and this amazing view from our room in Domicillo.

Tom and I had a peaceful, restful and delightful stay at Domicillo Tagaytay. It’s one of those places that couples and weekend warriors can take refuge from stress and the busy city.

Book a staycation soon!

Domicillo is located along the Emilio Aguinaldo Highway in Tagaytay, from the rotunda, turn right, it’s near the Petron gas station.

Is it affordable in Domicillo? and is it near Ramon Orlina’s museum in Tagaytay?

    Thanks,

      Hi Hanna,

It really depends on your budget. Best to enquire from Domicillo and check their room options.

      Thanks!

      Best,
      Jenni
