Q&A portion:

Who is Sun Life?

Sun Life Financial pioneered life insurance in the Philippines in 1895. Today, we are one of the largest and most trusted insurers in the country with almost half a million policy holders to date. In 2011, Sun Life Philippines ranked #1 life insurer in the country based on total premiums of 14B.

What is Sun Shorts?

•Five digital short films that illuminate the value of love, friendship, foresight and a positive outlook in life.
•Sunshorts is Sun Life’s way of showcasing the stories it gathered through years of communication with its customers — all of which have shown how their lives become brighter under the Sun.
•Sun Life asked five renowned film directors to interpret its brand promise, Life’s brighter under the Sun through these films.

Key message of the film:

The movie’s main message is that is never morbid to think of things that may or may not happen to us such as sicknesses. One’s death nor fate is attached to a broken mirror, the number 13, a black cat or butterfly.

•No one knows for sure what the future holds for us — so why not prepare for it?
•Preparing for hospitalization, and even more, death and other unforeseen situations is a sign of being realistic and pragmatic, not of being paranoid.

Why watch?

Filipinos are immensely known to be a superstitious bunch. We don’t like the number 13, are afraid of black cats and will run away from any black butterfly that we encounter. What we are characteristically known for, too, is we shun away from the thought of death.

Matagal pa yun, we think.

Sooner than later, we are at the face of life instances (death or otherwise like a life event that requires a sum of money) and we’re like deer caught in the headlights, with the blinding truth that we have forgotten to prepare. This is the lesson that Sun Life is trying to bring to the consciousness of Filipino families that life insurance, financial preparedness is not being morbid, but just realistic. In a recent study conducted by Sun Life, out of 100 Filipinos, only two shoulder their own expenses when sick, and the rest borrow from their families and from other sources.

Sunshorts is all about the slices of life that makes us think — why think of the future? Why now? Why ever?

Sharing is caring:

The Philippines, while it has been growing steadfastly
on the economic front, still needs a lot of growing up to do. Financial preparedness, is one of our weaker points. Currently at 3% individual insurance penetration, the country is in need of some dose of reality that life’s circumstances do call for long term preparedness –- and we at Sun Life prefer to provide that by sharing what our clients have taught us, too. In our own little way and with your help, we can change someone’s life by being able to teach a viewer that money may not be everything but financial stability is a key to a life lived well.

Life is short, make every moment count.

The key in conquering our fears is to be prepared and empower ourselves with the right information.

In a nutshell, Sun Life insurance gives us peace of mind.
