The moment I laid my eyes on the Charlotte Olympia Blue Koi Carp Print Platform Pumps, I knew I needed them in my life.

‘Shanghai Express’ was Charlotte Olympia’s main collection for last Fall 2014 inspired by the Chinese Imperial family. The platforms are beautifully imprinted with a blue Koi print on glossy patent leather.

The challenge was buying the shoes online (at the time it came out, none of my friends were traveling) without being charged an arm and a leg with customs fees. Since the pumps were limited edition, online stores and Charlotte Olympia boutiques had quickly sold out. I got lucky and found a pair in my size on Charlotte Olympia’s website. It was easy to buy on their site and their customer service is efficient but they didn’t allow sending the package via Johnny Air Cargo’s USA address as they have very strict shipping rules. Ugh. It meant that I had to pay the ridiculous customs fees.

Anyway, I want to forget about the amount I paid for the pumps and just concentrate on the fabulousness of my favorite shoes:

Polished with the feel of classic Chinese porcelain, these lavish platforms from Charlotte Olympia are special. Crafted in Italy, these heels feature a blue koi carp print.

The heels look like imperial Ming vases!

When you buy a pair of Charlotte Olympia shoes, it comes with a printed Polaroid-style photo to tape in front of the box for easy access. So cool.

Sometimes, the things we want in life come with a price, in my case the friggin’ fees. This pair of Charlotte Olympia shoes spoke to me because it’s the quintessential “Jenni Epperson,” fashion-meets-home style! I also believe that koi fish are lucky. Every time I wear them, it makes me feel happy and that’s all that really matters. I’ll just have to cut back on buying random footwear until I feel I’ve recuperated from the money I paid for the shoes #nyeta.

Was it worth the price? You bet! These are my new lucky shoes!

Shoppingera, what is the price you are willing to pay for your dreams?
