I will be one of the bloggers representing the Philippines for Toyota’s Seat Belt Design Contest. Other participating countries are Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
I’m taking this opportunity to flex some of my design skillz (NAKS!) and help create awareness on seatbelt safety.
Seat belts are the single most effective traffic safety device for preventing death and injury.
How many times have you seen adults and children inside a vehicle without wearing a seat belt? What about parents who let their kids sit with them on the driver’s seat and play pretend driver while on the road? Or jeepneys, buses and tricycles on the highway without passenger seat belts (sorry, I love jeepneys but not having seat belts in them poses grave danger)? According to Toyota’s research, only 20% of Filipinos wear seatbelts.
Wearing a seat belt is a must. It can help save lives.
I made two seat belt designs that are attention-grabbing for drivers and passengers (so they always remember to wear it) and fun. The first design is made with elements I love: zebra pattern and the Philippine flag. I think kids would enjoy wearing them. The other one is more for adults with the classic black & white zebra print and a happy THUMS face for fun. Here are what I’ve come up with:
VOTE for my “Mabuhay” seatbelt design here and “Zebra” style here.
What do you think? Go for gold na ba ito?
VOTE for my designs here and here. Thanks!
Time to buckle up!
