Our moving date to our new house is nearing. I can’t help but feel nostalgic about our home of almost eight years: Salcedo Village, Makati City.
When Tom and I first got married, we lived in several houses. We were both starting out at that time so we would convert the first floor area of the house into a studio while we lived on the top floor. It was OK for the first ten years but after a while, we found it hard to live and work in the same place. That was when we decided to move into a condo and rent a studio at another location. It was bliss.
However, looking for a condo at that time was not easy as we had certain requirements, a budget to consider and it had to be in Salcedo Village. We always thought that the community in the area was more conducive for a young family like us. There is a beautiful park for our kids to play in, Saturday Salcedo Market that Tom and I love to explore, lots of preschools and cool cafes and restaurants scattered in the area. For us, Salcedo Village was the equivalent of Brooklyn in New York—it’s the hangout of artists, yuppies and young families.
The new Maison Epperson is located inside a private village in Makati and for as much as it is nice and quiet, it doesn’t have the charm of Salcedo Village.
Things I Will Miss In Salcedo Village:
I will miss 7 Eleven, Mini Stop and Kang’s (our favorite Korean convenience store) located at almost every corner of the village.
I will miss the convenience of nearby banks and ATM’s.
I will miss the cool restos and bars I can walk to.
I will miss the neighborhood cafes spread throughout Salcedo Village.
I will miss the park and friends my family has made while playing and hanging out.
I will miss waking up to the noise of the city (it always jolts my morning).
But most of all, I will miss the cool and comfortable vibe of Salcedo Village.
Sigh.
I can tell you now that based on experience, for as much as living in a big home and having a spacious abode is nice, living in a condo is low maintenance compared to a house (oh, I will also miss not having headaches from home repairs).
Just as we are getting ready to leave Salcedo Village, Tom and I discovered an awesome condo that will be sprouting up near our building. Great.
I inquired about Salcedo SkySuites last weekend and visited their showroom.
Oh, incidentally, did you know that there is a freakin’ Rustan’s Fresh in the basement of Paseo Center?!! NO ONE TOLD ME! HOW COULD I HAVE NOT KNOWN ABOUT THIS?!! Thank you.
Anywho, the space planning and layout of this room is quite amazing. It’s spacious and with a patio to boot.
Open kitchen layout makes a place look bigger!
Cool Crosley turntable is a yuppy’s must!
Sleep, shower, repeat.
When I inquired about the 1 Bedroom unit, they said that it’s almost sold out. I wasn’t surprised as the room and location are fantastic.
What I’m interested in though are the Executive Studio and the 2 Bedroom unit:
Tom and I are always looking for investments. The Executive Studio (50 or 54 square meters) of Salcedo SkySuites is maybe something for our kids’ future.
The 2 Bedroom unit (80 or 84 square meters) of Salcedo SkySuites is perfect for families!

• Salcedo SkySuites has the first roof deck heated infinity pool in the metro! Summer, winter or Fall, tuloy ang ligaya! Haha

I was also able to talk to Mr. Eugene Lozano, Megaworld vice-president of sales and marketing for Makati CBD and he gave good points. According to him, ” “We are the only developer in Makati CBD that can offer very very flexible payment schemes at no downpayment, no lumpsum, at zero percent interest. This encourages starting families to make their first investment without compromising the family budget. At Megaworld Makati CBD, you can start your investment at only Php 15,000 a month for an executive studio unit or Php 40,000 a month for a 2 bedroom unit. Instead of opting for a development that requires a huge down payment, you can allot the money to other as important things, such as the education of your kids, additional business funds, and even for family travels. Since Salcedo SkySuites is located in the central business district where property values continually increase, you can be assured that you are making a sound investment. You have the option to live in it, rent it out, or re-sell it.”
If you’re looking for an investment or a new home for your family, I recommend Salcedo Village area. From experience, I can tell you that it’s a lovely community that the entire family can enjoy.
My family and I will surely miss living in Salcedo Village where we can walk to virtually most places. Now that we will be living in another area in Makati, we are not looking forward to driving to the grocery just to buy “toyo”. LOL

I laughed at your comment about Rustans PAseo, its been there for over a year! I remember getting all excited about that one. I agree with Salcedo village vibe, I love it here 🙂
My husband and I are currently looking for a place in Salcedo Village because it’s near our workplace and we are having a baby soon. 🙂 Your post makes me excited to move! We’ve looked at some units but haven’t found something that we really love. This might sound weird but is there any chance your unit will be available for lease? haha It is really lovely.
talagang “toyo” 😉 lol
Hi Ms.Kat and Ms.Jenni, I am really glad to see you blog, it gives me goosebumps about all the perk and good vibes you said about Salcedo Village..
Some of my clients consider Salcedo Village as the OASIS of Makati for even the Salcedo Village is consider the Financial District of Makati, its also called as the Busiest Part of Makati, but when you check the JAIME VELASQUEZ Park or known as SALCEDO PARK, its so peaceful and so quiet, and its a song in your ear to hear kids, laughing and playing around in the park. There so much to see in Salcedo Village.
