Ringing in the New Year brings so much joy and hope. It’s a great time for reflecting on the past year and looking forward to all the new memories and adventures for 2016.

Aryanna’s blackboard art
At home, cleaning, de-cluttering and organizing our space for New Year’s Eve are essential. There is nothing like starting the year with a fresh and clean environment.
Stress-free preparations for the holiday is also key. For our NYE dinner, I started fixing our tablescape in the late afternoon to give me more time to lounge, haha! The plato-platuhan (tableware) were laid out accordingly for a beautiful and efficient buffet.

Fruits are pretty and practical tablescape decor. It’s tradition for us to have 13 different kinds of fruits on the dining table for abundance and luck for the coming year.
Orbs as ornaments for this year’s NYE tablescape.

I bought the glass orbs and light bulb candle holders from The Landmark and the gold urchin napkin rings were gifts from Moss Manila.
I usually light unscented candles on the table but once in a while, I use cinnamon-scented candles for some sweet and homey smell.
When it comes to buffet set-ups, it’s all about the high & low.

I like using food risers, cake stands or dessert tiered stands and champagne buckets for a dynamic buffet set-up.
For our New Year’s Eve dinner, we decided to skip home-cooked meals (we didn’t want to ring in the New Year washing pots, pans and dishes). Aryanna once again, had a brilliant idea of having a cheese and cold cuts platter as our main course. Yes!
Easy and yummy dinner

My version of cheese and cold cuts platter (clockwise): Hoffmann Hot Peppers cheese, brie with truffles, camembert cheese, sliced mozzarella, les chiffonnades Pavé Au Piment d’Espelette, coppa, salami, Bresaola della Valtellina, I.G.P., pastrami, LG Canal Viejo cheese, pistachio nuts and crackers.
Three C’s: Champagne, cupcakes and confetti
Pad Thai noodles (from East Cafe) for long life!
Fiesta ham (insert the pig’s snout emoji here)
Dessert towers

Cheddar Popcorn, gold coins chocolates and our favorite coffee cake bites (bought in S&R)
This year, it’s “buffet all the way” for our NYE meal!
