Table Setting: Easy Summer Picnic

Tom recently had a shoot for one of the hotels in the city. He shot the interior of a new grand ballroom. After the photo shoot, he was given some of the fresh flowers that were used as props. He brought home five floral centerpieces for me. So sweet and at the same time so very “tita”! LOL

Sayang naman ang miles so I thought I’d put them into good use. It’s time for a summer picnic!

Reusing a wedding centerpiece for my summer picnic table setting

Let’s do an outdoor table setting, shall we? Plato-platuhan time!

It’s too hot (hello 45°C!!!) to set-up anything complicated so I stuck to the basics: white plates, bamboo utensils, mason jars and some crisp printed napkins.

I like mixing high and low when it comes to my table setting. For this casual outdoor arrangement, I used porcelain plates, bamboo and crisp table napkins in contrast to the vinyl checkered table cloth. No need for placemats at baka maduling dot com tayo, haha!

Tip: Use white porcelain plates for an elegant outdoor setting instead of paper plates. Also, printed, crisp table napkins can spice up the look of your basic everyday dishes.

A summer picnic is not complete without BBQ!

Notice the beautiful glaze on the chicken? My husband used his secret (not for long, hehe) BBQ sauce recipe. I will convince him to share it with all of you.

Best part about setting the table is enjoying it with good food!

Simple salad (I used roasted sesame dressing. It’s so good!) and BBQ chicken for dinner. Despite the heat, todo BBQ lang si Tom! He usually barbecues at night when it’s slightly cooler.

Cold Strawberry Milk Shake in this heat is everything!

Time to go back inside the house and cool down in front of the A/C! Aaaaaaargh!
