The Epperson’s Staycation at Solaire Sky Tower

jenniLifestyle 3 Comments

Tom and I had the opportunity to work on a project for Solaire Resort & Casino before it opened to the public in 2013. Tom did the photography and I was the fashion and interior stylist for the casino and hotel. It was an exciting project working with both the international and local advertising agencies of Solaire. During the entire project, we stayed in one of Solaire Resort & Casino’s Deluxe Rooms for  almost two weeks. While working, we also got to experience the hotel’s luxurious rooms, amenities, impeccable service and great food. Basically, we know the place like the back of our hands.

Tom and I worked on the interior and lifestyle advertising shoot for Solaire Resort & Casino in 2013.

Last May, Tom and I went back to Solaire Resort & Casino this time, not as suppliers but as guests at the new Solaire Sky Tower. We also brought our children and they were ecstatic to finally get to stay in the hotel.

Allow me to share with you our experience:

The Epperson’s got a 3-day/2-night stay in Solaire Resort & Casino’s Sky Tower. In my opinion, to fully experience any hotel or resort, an overnight stay just won’t cut it. A two-night stay, at the very least, is ideal because it gives you ample time to rest and enjoy the hotel or resort’s amenities.

We arrived at Solaire Resort & Casino in style thanks to their limo service. Guests have the option to be picked up at home or from the airport instead of driving or taking a cab. I recommend this service if you want to start your staycation stress-free. Our limo driver drove safely and he was polite and friendly. Bliss.

The Sky Tower of Solaire Resort and Casino consists of a 312 all-suite hotel, additional VIP gaming areas, an exclusive Chinese restaurant and a whiskey bar for VIP gamers, state-of-the-art conference rooms and a lyric theater. The 17-storey five-star hotel features lavish suites with a majestic view of the Manila Bay sunset.

The Grand Executive Suite features a separate living and dining area. Guests can entertain friends and family or just chill out or watch TV.

There is also a pantry and coffee station in our suite. Tom and I were in here at 3pm like clockwork to make Nespresso Coffee.

Where and what to eat?

Staycations revolve around lounging and eating. Solaire Resort & Casino offers a wide selection of dining pleasures in any of the four signature restaurants, casual dining outlets, and cafès, each one made exquisite by a distinct luxurious ambiance and exceptional service from the restaurant staff.

The three hungry dragons

Fresh Restaurant – the restaurant provides the best international buffet dining experience. Be prepared to be wowed by the Exhibition Kitchens featuring Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Chinese and Continental cuisines. Fresh allows guests and dining patrons to indulge in limitless choices of breads, appetizers, pastries, steaks, pastas, seafood and more. Pair it all with a wide variety of juices, cocktails and mocktails.

Oasis Garden Café – the Cafe is set against a relaxing garden setting overlooking two waterfalls where one can have a leisurely brunch, a quick business lunch, afternoon tea or cocktails under the stars.

It serves Latin American and Mediterranean specialties and features a unique ensemble of show kitchens, which includes a paella cooking station, churrascaria, rotisserie, and tapas bar.

Red Lantern – this is Solaire Resort and Casino’s signature Chinese restaurant. Suckling Pig, Peking Duck, a wide array of delicious homemade dim sums are just the beginning of the restaurant’s list of mouthwatering, and authentic gourmet spectacles that dining patrons can enjoy. Ingredients arrive daily from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, all for the enjoyment of food lovers here in Manila.

Everything we had in red Lantern were excellent! Walang itapon!

I recommend the Salted Egg Prawns. Sooooo gooood!

The Strip – the restaurant serves finest cuts of beef, including American Kobe, are imported fresh and seared to perfection. Enjoy a cocktail from their extensive bar menu in the restaurant lounge, then gather at the chef’s table with a full view of the open kitchen. Admire the 3,000 bottles carefully chosen for Strip’s wine wall. Indulge in rich dishes and fantastic views of Manila Bay.

The Epperson’s at the chef’s table. We loved chatting (and eating too) with Chef Eric Turgeon.

Chef Eric’s butter ice cream with popcorn is the best!!

Finestra – Solaire’s signature Italian restaurant that serves authentic handmade pastas, designer pizzas, artesian olive oils and homemade gelato and sherbet all delight with their rich flavors and finest quality ingredients. Dine on the best Italian dishes coupled with the most romantic panoramic view of the Manila Bay. Top it all off with a sip from our extensive selection of premium grappas and Italian digestives.

Salvatore de Vincentis is the Executive Chef of Finestra. Born in Naples, Italy, he first fell in love with the culinary world right within the confines of their kitchen, beside his mother. He started out with a fancy for creating his own versions of pasta recipes and other hometown specialties. At present, with more than 20 years of experience, Chef Salvatore puts the authentic Italian touch to dining at Finestra.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

Aside from the casino and theatre, Solaire Resort & Casino has a 72m-long recreational pool. In my opinion, they have the best pool in the metro in terms of having both a swimming pool and lap pool in one!

Where there is water, happiness is abound!

Eat, swim, sleep, repeat.

Another great feature of the pool is having a wide ledge that you can use for tanning, lounging and is also great for kids who can’t swim yet.

IMG_2004

There are private cabanas in the pool area with it’s own TV and  jacuzzi!

IMG_2230

Be sure to order cocktails and fresh buko juice from the pool bar!

We had a grand time staying at Solaire Sky Tower to say the least. It’s the perfect place for quick weekend getaways.

I also recommend this hotel for honeymooners and balikbayan friends and relatives! For as grand and massive Solaire Resort & Casino is, there is something romantic and cozy about the place. The beautiful interiors, impeccable service and world-class facilities and amenities make ones stay a memorable one.
