Top on my New Year’s Resolution list was EXERCISE! I might have started slow this year but I am aiming to finish strong. I wanted to embrace a more active lifestyle. I want to live a long life so I can see my family grow, to travel more and experience life! I have to build my stamina and stay healthy so I can achieve all my goals.
Here’s the first phase of my master plan:
‘Sole’-mate
I realized that I don’t like exercising by myself. Bet ko yung may ka-chika! My husband and I have decided to become each others workout buddy. We’ve been power walking 3-4 times a week at the park.
This power walk is a great motivator – 2-in-1 – good for both the physical and emotional heart! Set rules. It should be a pleasant experience so no negative talking while walking!
Did you know? The American Heart Association recommends 30-minute walking over other physical activities? The reasons aside from having less dropouts than other exercises,
• Reduce the risk of coronary heart disease
• Improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels
• Improve blood lipid profile
• Maintain body weight and lower the risk of obesity
• Enhance mental well being
• Reduce the risk of osteoporosis
• Reduce the risk of breast and colon cancer
• Reduce the risk of non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes
Green is in!
I drink around 2-3 bottles of green juice everyday. Aside from having less calories than an all-fruit juice, green juice has more than the energy properties and nutrients of other juices, rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
Drinking green juice also fills me up. It also helps me cut my cravings. I drink a bottle before breakfast, one in the afternoon for snack and sometimes, after dinner.
I don’t drink it to detox, just to give me a boost of energy or as a meal replacement.
I just wish someone will sell more affordable cold-pressed green juice or give consumers discounts for regular orders. Let me know if you know of any.
Every step counts
No matter how small and simple, it’s always a great start. Slow down and smell the roses. Enjoy the food but get going, get active. I wear a Nike Fuel band, a gift given to me by Kaye Tinga, and it serves as my constant encouragement. It gives me a progress report on how I am doing through my synchronized iPhone and laptop.
Start simple. Walk, climb stairs, move, be active, do what you enjoy doing.
I’ve no excuse. You’ve no excuse. Get up, move, walk, run, climb to your good health!
