Shoebsession: Ballerines

Ballet flats are  my current obsession.

I blame Inès de la Fressange for my ballerines fetish. Ever since I read her book, “Parisian Chic: A Style Guide“, I’ve been on the lookout for French-style ballet flats: round-toe with thin soles! I love Inès de la Fressange’s style because it’s chic and fun at the same time.  She mixes classic staples, like a blazer, T-shirt, jeans and her signature shoes: Converse and ballet flats.  It’s E. Porsellis ballerines (www.apc.fr) or bust for the model-turned celebrity!

Thank God a local retailer has finally produced beautiful ballerines. I’m talking about Tarte Tatin.

Tarte Tatin is a children’s apparel store which also carries home accessories and women’s shoes. I wrote about Tarte Tatin’s chic ballet flats early this year on my previous blog. Unfortunately, they produced limited quantity only. I texted Tarte Tatin owner and designer Mandy dela Rama-Santos and told her how chic her shoes were and that she was crazy for not making more ballet flats and in different colors!

Mandy promised me she’d produce more. Fast forward several months later, I was happy to see new Tarte Tatin ballet flats in different hues! OMG!

Peg: Inès de la Fressange

As seen in Domino’s March 2009 issue, Inès de la Fressange in her signature flats

My Tarte Tatin ballet flats collection (please don’t judge me, haha).

Aren’t the shoe boxes adorable?

Pearl white. This is officially my house slippers.

Matte gold. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways… I love thee with jeans, cropped pants, LBD, shorts, LND (little nude dress), pleather pants… the possibilities are endless!

Matte silver. I have issues with silver shoes/sandals. Not with this pair.

The perfect ballet flats have thin soles and are sewn into the material. Warning: there is zero cushion on these flats but I’m used to them. Being a dancer, I used to live in my dance shoes! You’ll get used to it. Even the ones from Porsellis have very thin leather soles.

This is my second pair of  Tarte Tatin black ballet flats. My first pair is a goner. I wore them to the ground!

Tarte Tatin ballet flats are available in five colors: black, white, gold, silver and in patent fuchsia.

According to Mandy, she’s coming out soon with nude-colored and leopard print ballerines! OMG. OMG. OMG. Give me a heads up, Mands!

Tarte Tatin is located at Rustan’s and at Greenbelt 5, 3F
