Who’s got oily skin? No, scratch that. Who’s got very oily skin? Raise your legs…

Now, who’s got photo-aged skin, or skin overexposed to sunlight; wrinkles and sagging; age spots or sun-induced freckles in mature skin; hyperpigmentation or discoloration; and rosacea or redness caused by visible veins? Raise your legs…

I see most of us have our legs up, eh? Ladies, gentlemen, and gays, finally there’s a machine that can help minimize all our skin concerns. Say hello to our new best friend, Optilight!

Optilight machine

Q: What is the OptiLight treatment?

A: It is an advanced light-based treatment that improves the appearance of photoaged skin, removes age spots and pigmentation through a process called photorejuvenation.

Q: What are the skin conditions that can be treated with OptiLight?

A: OptiLight is designed to treat the following:
•photoaged skin (wrinkles, melasma, sagging skin)
•age spots (sun-induced freckles, hyperpigmentation) found on the face, neck, chest, back, hands or anywhere on the body caused by prolonged sun exposure
•rosacea (facial redness due to dilated blood vessels and/or inflamed papules)
•pigmented lesions (brown pigmented spots, scars, Keratosis etc.)

Q: How does it work?

A: Using the appropriate wavelength and parameters, a spectrum of light is transmitted through a small, smooth, transparent handpiece which is gently placed over the skin. The light penetrates the tissue, which in effect, damages it in order to be absorbed by either the blood or the melanin depending on the skin condition being treated.

Q: What is the standout feature of OptiLight? What are its advantages?

A: OptiLight is exclusively integrated with the Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™) that allows consistent delivery of precise pulse and fluence on the area to be treated. Treatment of darker skin types as well as pigmented lesions is made possible with OPT™. Most importantly, the results delivered in a single treatment of OptiLight with OPT™ are comparable to those achieved in 3-5 treatments with other technologies.

Q: How long does the treatment usually take? And how many sessions are required?

A: A treatment session takes about 20 to 30 minutes only. For optimum results, 6 sessions at intervals of at least 3 weeks are recommended.

Q: What should be expected during treatment? Is there any downtime?

A: During treatment, when a pulse is triggered, a stinging sensation will be felt which others liken to a rubber band snap. Generally, clients can immediately resume normal activities after an OptiLight treatment. However, for some clients, there may be swelling and redness of the treated area which could last for a few hours depending on the severity of the client’s skin condition. As for superficial scabbing that may develop after a few days, it should not be a cause for alarm because it is a good sign that the treatment is working.

You will love: It’s a lunch-time or merienda-time procedure. It only takes 20-30 minutes!

What to expect:

Step 1: Consult with Facial Care Center’s dermatologist.
Step 2: The face is cleansed and eyes are covered with goggles.
Step 3: A cold gel (magigising ang kalamnan n’yo sa lamig! Haha!) is applied all over your face. Then a wand with a small rectangular pad for a tipis pressed against the face, area by area—cheeks, chin, forehead.
Step 4: A light flashes, similar to that of a camera (paparazzi victim levelz ang flashes). It tingles a bit, and has a slight pinching sensation, depending on one’s sensitivity but tolerable.
Step 5: Your face is cleansed again and applied with a light SPF lotion.
