Meet my best friend of almost two decades Tess Villareal. She is probably one of the few people who knows me well. She is one of my closest confidants. She knows all the ups and downs I’ve experienced in life and she has been there for me through thick and thin. I love her!
She is also my voice of reason:
Me: I want to buy the Hermès Cape Cod Watch.
Tess: Don’t.
Me: I saw Gwyneth Paltrow wearing it.
Tess: Save up for your dream watch. Gwyneth would be proud.
Only a best friend could put things in perspective. LOL
Tess is a dog groomer. She is one of the pioneer pooch stylists in the Philippines and one of the best. She is also on the who’s who speed dial. Dog lovers go to her because she gives their “babies” TLC. She gets emotional when one of her client’s puppies get sick or when their dog dies. Understandably, because she is an animal lover herself. She and her family own more than twenty dogs! She also has the most adorable Yorkshire Terriers!

My family and I have known Tess for so long that we’re all comfortable around her. Right, Tom?
Tess doesn’t mind hugging and kissing Dylan even when he’s sweaty (he just got home from playing outdoors) and she also thinks that Tom’s socks are cool.
My daughter Aryanna loves her Tita Tess. She once told me that talking to Tess is like talking to me. She’s one of the few people my daughter can open up to. I love that.
Tom is shy but not around Tess. My helper Liza is also not shy. Smile, Liz! Haha!
Tess and I hardly see each other as we both live busy lives. I thought it would be nice to have dinner together at Maison Epperson and catch up.
She volunteered to cook her Truffle Mushroom Risotto.
I think cooking for friends is one of the sweetest gestures!

According to Tess, she’s sick of her risotto and she wanted to try my burger. I made her the Signature Epperson Beef and Veggie Burger:
Tess: Jen, could you cook me half a burger lang? I’m really not hungry.
Me: Girl, wala ng kakain ng other half kaya ubusin mo na!
Tess: Fine. But can I just eat it without the bun?
Me: It’s not our Signature Burger without the bread.
Tess: Gaaaad! Fine.
Me: *serves the burger* Here you go!
Tess: *eats the entire burger under five minutes* Sooo gooood! Meron pa?
Me: Wala na. Half a burger, half a burger ka d’yan. Che!
I love that my kids are comfortable around Tess. In fact, Dylan always call her on the phone. Phone pal sila.

After dinner, we popped a bottle of Presecco to celebrate our friendship.
As the night progressed…
So did the number of bubbly we consumed!
As evidence, we were struggling to open a bottle of white wine with the easiest corkscrew to use… If you’re sober. Haha!

Me: Excuse me, I know how to use this contraption! *hik* Remember, I vought thhhis?
Tess: You’re doing it wrong. *hik*
Me: I’m not… Ooops! I’ve come undone. *buttons up the shirt*
Tess: Forget about your top! Just help me open this bottle!
Me: Now you want me helff?
Tess: Helfff me!!!
Me: Did you just say HELFFFFF???
Tess: No! You did!
