The trench coat is one of the most stylish and versatile coats to own. It’s casual enough to throw on during the cool-weather or rainy season and yet maintains a businesslike respectability thanks to it’s double-breasted and belted-waist style.
Menswear-inspired attires have always been on the fashion radar and this season it’s even stronger than ever. Judging from the latest #NYFW Instagram photos on my feed and runway shows I’ve seen online, it seems like the level of diversity in menswear-inspired outfits are at all an all time high; sartorial suits mixed with street wear essentials such as bomber jackets and trousers and joggers paired with blazers that women can also incorporate in their wardrobe. Fashion these days has truly blurred the lines of age and gender.
On a recent trip out of town, one of the trench coats I bought last year (on sale) came in handy. The temperature in Tagaytay the past few days were between 20-28°C; enough to merit wearing a coat or jacket.
A light cotton, white trench coat is the perfect piece to don on chilly days in the tropics. A belted-style is flattering and can make an outfit look refined even when wearing a loose bottom. Incorporating some 70’s touch like the platform can freshen the look of this classic coat.
