Meatless Monday: Tofu Burger

jenniFood 4 Comments

I’ve been wanting to share my tofu burger recipe for a long time but every time I make it, my family woofs down the patties even before I could photograph them. Honestly, whenever my family is hungry, they breath down on my neck to make super quick meals! Haaay! Para namang mga PG! LOL

Last week, while everyone was out of the house, I made my tofu burgers and I had enough time to take pictures. Pasalamat kayo!

Tofu Burgers

Ingredients:

1 pc. firm tofu, finely chopped (I used a food processor)
1 small carrot, finely chopped
3 onions, 1 minced, remaining onions cut into rings
1 tbsp milk
1 egg
flour
olive oil
garlic powder
cayenne pepper
salt
pepper

Easy peasy:

Step 1: In a mixing bowl dump the tofu, carrots and the minced onions

Step 2: Add the milk

Step 3: Add the egg and all the seasoning

Step 4: Make patties and dust them with flour before frying. Be sure to season the flour with salt and pepper. This mixture is very soft so it’s important to dust the patties with flour to hold it’s form.

Step 5: Fry the patties in olive oil over medium heat.

Tip: Make thin patties so that the tofu and veggies cook fast.

Step 6: In a separate pan, cook onion rings in olive oil over low heat.

Tofu burgers can get dry. Top them with caramelized onion rings to keep them juicy and tasty as well.

This recipe is very basic. Once you’ve mastered this, you can add other ingredients to flavor your tofu burger. You can add red onions, celery, cilantro, parsley or bell peppers.

To keep it healthy, skip the bun.
