Next to the kitchen and dining area, the family room is one of the most lived-in spaces in Maison Epperson. We use it as a media/game room and a place where we can lounge in. I also plan to entertain soon so I want the room to have lots of seating areas while still having a cozy feel to it.
Family room goals
Here’s a breakdown of my inspirations for our family room:
Color combo
I just love the green and blue color combination. It’s got an old-world charm yet is vibrant and modern.
I love the rich blue and green hues as they create a luxurious yet cozy feel.
Another of my favorite Miles Redd designed room! That indigo blue sofa mixed with the emerald green lamps are everything!
White walls with blue and green furniture and accessories make the room feel lighter and airy.
I’m over the moon with Jonathan Adler’s room! I’ve been dreaming of the blue and green retro Platner chairs forever!
Ambiance
We’re going for a luxurious resort-living in the city vibe. We want a space that when you walk in you just want to relax and unwind.
Indoor-outdoor feels
Resort chic
Aerin Lauder’s Hampton home exudes classic with a twist! Super dying over the blue and white porcelain stools and lamp! Check out the green rattan table and white coral lamp!
Furniture
Mixing traditional furniture with modern pieces.
Mid-century furniture mixed with retro pieces in a modern setting
Every home needs a peacock chair for the queen of the house, haha!
I need lucite anything in my life!
I’ve always wanted a trunk as coffee table. It’s a chic and functional piece for the home.
I need to find the perfect poufs! This velvet pair looks glamorous and casual at the same time.
Accessories
Home accessories are the little details that make the difference between a bright and fun home and a beautiful but boring one.
Nothing screams resort living more than the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Martinique Banana Leaf wallpaper! Designer Nate Berkus’ Milan apartment is covered in this beautiful wallpaper.
One of the easiest ways to light a dark corner in a room is by adding some atmospheric lighting. Lamps will be major in our room!
Vintage blue and white porcelain planters remind me of my childhood. My grandmother and mom are fans of these beautiful pottery. Can’t wait to incorporate them in our space.
I’m just waiting for some of our new furniture to arrive and show you guys what we’ve done in our family room. Tune in this week for an exciting project!
