The holiday vacation has been great for my family as it allowed us to spend more time with each other. The last few weeks were all about participating in life and having fun.
For Christmas, my husband gifted me a retro-style bicycle! Santa also gave Dylan a new kickscooter as his old one is already battered from doing tricks.
Since we got our new rides, we’ve been hitting the streets in our village and the park and getting active. It also allowed me to teach my son to become street smart, literally. I know that parents worry about traffic danger. But teach them about road safety and have fun riding with them, and there’s no reason why children can’t enjoy the freedom of cycling and riding the kickscooter.
Once your child is confident on their bike or kickscooter, getting them used to riding on the roads will develop them in many ways. Not only will they gain a sense of freedom and independence, they’ll also improve their confidence and fitness.
I’m proud that my son has been consistent in following road safety by reading different traffic signs. He also recognizes intersections on the road and knows how to stop, look and listen for incoming vehicles. Riding his kickscooter, reading road signs while having fun shows multiple intelligence. What an achievement! Bravo, dahling!
Developing a child’s multiple intelligence is important as well as raising up kids that are Brain Smart, Body Smart and People Smart because life is not just about knowing the rules but applying them then using what you have learned to make a difference.
