Last summer, I had a skin asthma attack and for the first time it spread throughout my calves, arms and lower back! It’s a genetic disorder and there’s really no cure for it but with the help of The Aivee Institute, my breakouts have been manageable. I’m just grateful that my face and the rest of my body were spared. Anyway, I know that in time it will clear up again but for now, wearing shorts and mini dresses are out of the question. Ugh.
On the upside, it made me seek more clothing options and try new styles. I’m not one to wear below-the-knee skirts, in fact, you’ll be hard pressed to find a photo of me on Instagram ever wearing one. Since I need to cover-up my calves, I’ve been trying different styles and all I can say is, I now like wearing midi and maxi skirts—it’s life-changing!!
Here are some skirt styles I’m loving right now:
Midi Skirts With Pocket
Pockets are love. I’ve gone out a few times without a bag and it’s liberating! It’s the ultimate fuss-free style.
Slit Skirts
Midi or maxi slit skirts are sexy. Whether the slit is on the side, in the middle or even multiple cuts, a bit of peek-a-boo action never hurt anyone.
Tube Skirts
Figure-hugging skirts exude confidence. I prefer long, comfort-fit style as it’s easier to move in.
Micro-pleated Skirts
The pleats mimic vertical lines which makes it flattering. I super love this style! Choose jewel tones and metallic materials for an updated look.
Tulle Skirts
Tulle skirts are chic. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am rekindling my love for this dreamy skirt because I used to wear them a lot growing up for ballet. Now, the ballerina skirts are legit street style and I’m all over it!
Long Evening Skirt
A floor-grazing skirt looks elegant. I like wearing separates for formal events because I can create different looks plus, it’s practical.
Wrap Skirt
This is one style that I want to get wrapped up in—literally. Easy, breezy style perfect for any lifestyle (yes, it rhymes).

even if we are not wise enough to see it.”

Challenges are opportunities for renewal and transformation. In this case, I’ve skirted the issue on skin asthma by wearing skirts!
