What makes a house a home?
Home to me is surrounding myself in the things I love: Tom’s artworks, my kids’ drawings, collectible toys, our art collection, books, my tableware and teasets, pieces that contain a memory and are on display, and most importantly the laughter that I hear from my two children. A home is that safe place. A place that you create happiness within.
Since having baby Dylan in our lives, I’ve been redecorating/undecorating “Maison Epperson” (hey, it rhymes!) Nothing too drastic but we needed to child-proof our pad in style. It’s also time to rethink Aryanna’s room as her style and needs have evolved.
I’ve busted out some of my favorite house & home/decorating books to help me create a “new and improved” happy home. So exciting!
Ladies, gentlemen, and gheys, it’s time to play “bahay-bahayan”!
Excuse the crappy photos, my camera is still at the repair shop. @.@
We have limited space at home so decorating is quite a challenge. I try to create a comfortable abode with a hint of formality.
I grew up surrounded by antiques, crystal chandeliers, formal living and dining rooms as my grandparents and mom were huge antique dealers. In fact, if your grandparents/parents were big antique collectors in the 70’s, chances are, my Lolo Eko and Lola Fe sold them those rare and unique pieces. Although, personally, I’m not fond of antiques but a few pieces can add a classic twist (and a sense of history) to our modern eclectic nest.
I recently bought a book from National Book Store that I’ve been reading the past few days. I LOVE all the tips and easy how-to’s, makeovers and decorating ideas! In my opinion, this is the best step-by-step guide in decorating your space.
If you can’t afford a decorator or interior designer or if you already have a style and just need a guide on how to go about fixing your dwellings, this is the book for you!
You’ll love:
Fresh color. Browse palettes to find the perfect colors to make your room come to life.
Style options. Explore different looks to create a personal style for your home.
Makeovers. See how a new look can make any room into a decorating star.
Quick projects. Check out “try this” tips for easy projects to do now.
Work room. Hardworking decorating lessons to apply in any room.
They say, home is where the heart is and family is the “heart” of the home. Therefore, wherever you are or whatever state your house is in as long as you are surrounded with love and you feel a sense of belonging, you are ‘home’.
Shoppingero/shoppingera, what does ‘home’ mean to you?
