Golden Globes Gowns: The Good, The Bad & The “Buntis”

jenniStyle 2 Comments

It’s that time of the year when we ogle, Google and guffaw at the Golden Globe Red Carpet looks.

Ladies and gentlemen, present poh ang judge!

The Good

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

I love Jennifer Lawrence, period. The girl is adorable and charming. Her Red Carpet moments are anticipated not only for what she’s wearing but more about her antics in front of the camera.

The black and white Dior gown on another woman would’ve been a disaster but Jennifer looked amazing in it. In the end, no matter what gown or dress she’s in, the clothes never wear her. Her personality outshines them all.

Emma Watson in Dior

I always get giddy when a celebrity throws a curve ball on the Red Carpet like Emma Watson—the Dior backless, all the way down and pants combo is fun, age-appropriate and refreshing!

Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren, Fred Leighton jewelry

Modern day Red Riding Hood—fierce, fiery and red hot!

Cate Blanchett in Armani

Cate, The Great looks flawless. The hairstyle, makeup, accessories, gown and her posture are impeccable. The makings of an icon are always in the details.

Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen

Bombshell in a ball gown! Love her turquoise statement neckpiece!

Julia Roberts in Dolce & Gabbana

Julia’s style for the Golden Globes gives hope to women who don’t like bearing their arms for formal affairs. The black gown over white shirt is classic Dolce & Gabbana style. Her hair color and eye makeup make her look like an Italian siren!

She’s a modern woman with a megawatt smile!

Taylor Swift in Carolina Herrera

I’ve never seen Taylor Swift look bad on the Red Carpet. She stays true to her style and is always youthful. Love this gown on her!

Amy Adams in Valentino, Brian Atwood

Loving this Studio 54-ish evening gown on Amy! The color combination and cut of the dress look amazing on her body!

Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein

Reese is known to make bold color choices for her Red Carpet looks. This turquoise slinky dress is another winner! It’s fresh and fun!

Amy Poehler in Stella McCartney

This sleek, black cut-out dress on Amy has the right amount of sass and class.

Kaley Cuoco in Rani Zakhem Couture

Print on the Red Carpet is always tricky. Kaley’s ethereal ball gown is a breath of fresh floral fantasy as if she just stepped right out of a vintage painting!

Robin Wright in Reem Acra

A nude-colored evening dress and a knockout bod are always right on the Red Carpet!

 Amber Heard in Versace

Versace does navy so naughty! I like-y!

Julie Delpy in Romona Keveza, Salvatore Ferragamo

Beautiful and boxum Julie Delpy sizzles in this outfit!

Uma Thurman in Versace

One word: stunning!

Julianna Margulies in Andrew Gn

I have a soft spot for gowns with sleeves and anything black and with coral print. I die for this evening dress!

Emilia Clarke in Proenza Schouler

Beautiful white textured gown on Emilia! I just wish she chucked the stacked gold bangles. So annoying!

Naomi Watts in Tom Ford, Bulgari

Liquid gold on this Golden Girl! Naomi Watts shines on the Red Carpet!

Helen Mirren in Jenny Packham, Roger Vivier, Boite de Nuit Fleur, Bulgari

Helen Miren schools us in growing old with grace and style while still looking hot at 68.

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons in Tea Collection

Blush and black spell adorbs!

I just love kids who dress age-appropriately. In my opinion, children don’t have to be twinning with grown-ups.

 Trend spotting: Mullet ball gowns

Caitlin Fitzgerald in Emilia Wickstead

OMG. How chic is Caitlin Fitzgerald in her pastel blue attire? Love the hair, love the coral lipchook, love the dress, love the shoes! LOOOOOOVE!

Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung

Love Sandy, hate the dress.

Michelle Dockery in Oscar De La Renta

Very Downton Abbey attire and pose.

Zooey Deschanel in Oscar De La Renta

Napakalambot naman dito ni Zooey! I want to pluck off the flower stuck in her hair!

The Bad

Lena Dunham in Zac Posen

It pains me to see Lena on my “Bad” list because I love her! The ill-fitting bustier and the giant yellow ball gown are so wrong! Girl, it’s bad.

Zoe Saldana in Prabal Gurung

I thought Zoe’s dress would grow on me but it didn’t. I’m not feeling Prabal Gurung’s Red Carpet attires. Spin-A-Win!

Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera

Because of Manang Tina, print is now dead! Tinodo mo ang comedy this year! Natawa aketch sa hairstyle at outfitey mo!

Hayden Panettiere in Tom Ford

Sorry Tom Ford but Hayden ain’t your girl. What’s up with the freakin’ brooch pinned on the halter top? The white material across her tummy cuts off her body and the length is wrong.

Gabourey Sidibe in Michael Costello

Dear Michael Costello, why oh, why did you design this condom-like dress on my girl Gabourey? I just can’t…

Emma Thompson in Lanvin

What sorcery is this, Alber Elbaz???

Paula Patton in Stephanie Rolland, Charlotte Olympia

Pasan ko ang Fabric Warehouse! ‘Bat nakabalabal ka ng kumot ‘teh???

The “Buntis

Kerry Washington in Balenciaga, Fred Leighton jewelry, Casadei shoes

Bless you Alexander Wang! Olivia Pope, er, Kerry looks divine!

Drew Barrymore in Monique Lhullier, Roger Vivier, Edie Parker, Lorraine Schwartz

Blooming!

Olivia Wilde in Gucci

Beautiful baby bump in slinky sequined gown!

  1. For some reason, J. Law looks nice in this picture. Watching Golden Globes earlier today, she looked like she was wearing tissue paper with black belts.

Hate the eye make-up of Julia Roberts. She looks older.

  2. I don’t like J.Law dress, it look like a happyslip (the under garment used by the grandmothers – remember that Ms. Jennie ?)
