Boo-tiful Home

Call me crazy but I probably redecorate our home as often as I change my bag. EXAGE!!!

I have fun revamping our home and creating a space that’s inspiring for me and my family.

Before:

Remember my ‘Change of Season Home Décor’ post?

It doesn’t help too that my kids (read: Tom and Aryanna) pressured me to decorate for Halloween.

Tom: So what are we doing for Halloween?
Me: I already took Dylan trick or treat-ing. I’m staying in.
Aryanna: What about me?
Tom and me: *rolls eyeballs*
Me: I’m done with my mommy duties. That’s Halloween for me.
Tom: Oh, come on… You’re not even going to decorate for the Halloween? Aren’t we entertaining friends?
Aryanna: Yeah, mom! You should at least decorate the place with ghouls and goblins!
Tom: Yeah! Let’s hang some skeletons and chopped limbs as decoration!
Aryanna: YEAH!
Tom: Let’s buy Dylan a mask with popping eyeballs…
Aryanna: Oooh… What about if we get a cauldron and fill it with snakes and bugs?
Tom: YEAH!
Me: Tigilan n’yo ako.

Actually, with the black and white theme of “Maison Epperson” it doesn’t take much to make our home Halloween worthy.

Aaaat para magsitigil na ang dalawang ‘to, pagbigyan na! LOL

Now:

Fashion + Home: Whether I’m styling an outfit or decorating “Maison Epperson”, I always mix the basics with pops of colors to create a look.

Ubusan ng orange accessories!

Halloween = Black + Orange

Fashion + Home: Discovering one’s style is all about experimenting and editing. Experiment by layering furniture. Edit, edit, edit — de-clutter as often as possible.

Don’t ask me where I stored our Moroccan pouf and Dylan’s rocker (he’s been looking for it! Haha!)

Fashion + Home: When it comes to Halloween costumes, I always go for sassy than scary. Same goes for my home.

Hi everyone! This is Aryanna. Please take note of the evident nose on this mini Jack-O-Lantern bucket (see: ‘Jack-O-Lantern Cheesecake’ post.). xoxo

Instant Halloween! I used a mini Jack-O-Lantern bucket as a flower pot.

I found this toy witch’s broom at the Landmark. It was less than Php 100.00!

I love the organic look of the toy broom! Don’t you think it goes well with our black door?

Let’s just hope Dylan tries to yank this off our door. Haay!

Say hello to Blitz, the fifth member of the Epperson family. She’s 13 years old in human years.

Fashion + Home: Like the LBD (Little Black Dress), my Little Black Couch gets a fresh look by updating throw pillows every change of season or during special occasions.

Candy stripes + Autumn leaves = Fabulous Fall

Fashion + Home: Scents can transport you to a different time, place, or bring back special memories. You can also create different ambiance by lighting scented candles.

When lit, this Cire Trudon candle in “Odalisque” transports you to a citrus orchard. I love the orange and gold combo of the glass container too!

Fashion + Home: If God is in the details, home accessories are your saviour! Personalize your coffee/cocktail tables as you would your outfits.

Like what I said, my home is in a constant state of flux — just after I took photos of our newly decorated place for, I switched the orchid with a topiary from our patio. I posted this on my Instagram. Follow me!

Tips in updating your space:

• Reduce clutter. I always say that the key to an organized space is not storage but de-cluttering. Constantly edit your things. My personal rule at home is: one in, two out, every time I bring in one item for the home, I throw away/give away/sell two things from my home. It’s been challenging but doable. I don’t even miss the stuff that I’ve let go of. Well… maybe a little bit.

Update your colors and prints. Replacing fabric items with different prints, colors or textures can have a big impact. Consider replacing throw pillows, sheets/duvets and curtains for an easy home makeover.

Move things around. It’s amazing how switching furniture and home accessories around can change the look and feel of a room. It’s easy to do this at no cost!

Add a “pop.” Add a pop of one or two complementary colors for different holidays. Example, orange and black for Halloween, green and red for Christmas or pink and green for summer, the possibilities are endless! Choose a color or texture that you love and sprinkle it throughout the home to unify the theme.

Have a fun Halloween everyone!
