So I blogged about how early risers are happier but, to wake up early also means hitting the sack early and getting a good night’s sleep. I’m one of those people who can fall asleep easily. It’s a gift. I actually don’t remember a time when I had a hard time falling asleep. I have this ability to clear my mind and pretty much shut down my brain at bedtime and fall into la-la-land in a snap.
Let me share with you some of my nighttime rituals that have helped me in getting a good night’s sleep:
• Showering at night. Feeling fresh and smelling good melts away all the tension and sweat, haha!
• Beauty ritual. Cleanse, tone and moisturize are the building blocks of a healthy skin. Knowing that I’m doing something good for myself brings positive vibes. It’s easy to sleep when you feel (and look) good.
• Wearing pajamas/nighties. Wearing sleepwear tells my brain that it’s time to rest. I’m an advocate for dressing up for sleep! LOL
• Drinking tea. A warm cup of my favorite tea (decaf for those who are sensitive to caffeine) helps me unwind and relax.
• A clean and comfortable bed. I feel more excited going to sleep when the bed is made and has beautiful beddings with a fresh scent. I’m also a firm believer that the feel of the mattress, pillows, and sheets affects the quality of one’s sleep. The mattress should be comfortable and have good support so that you don’t toss and turn the whole night and wake up feeling achy or stiff.
• Praying. Some people read or watch TV to fall asleep, I pray. Ending my day with a grateful heart keeps my body, mind and soul at peace. As the old adage goes, “there is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience“.
What are your bedtime habits?
